08:21:40<joelr1>morning
20:10:48<joelr1>has anyone else noticed that examples don't compile?
20:29:12<tuukkah>scsibug said he had sent in patches to fix them
20:30:01<joelr1>i haven't seen them :(
20:32:06<tuukkah>me neither so can't help with that :-(
20:39:21<jmelesky>there's a working example here: http://blog.mauricecodik.com/2007/03/building-haskell-web-service-part-2.html
20:39:44<jmelesky>it returns xml, not html, just so you're warned.
20:40:06<jmelesky>but, yeah, as far as i can tell, the broken tutorial is a known problem
21:20:30<joelr1>jmelesky: would you know how to change the following to use a stylesheet?
21:20:30<joelr1>toMessageM = toMessageM . XML NoStyle
21:22:34<jmelesky>joelr1: sorry, i'm new to it, myself. i've been poking around, but i've mostly limited myself to html, not xml/xslt
22:14:26<Saizan>data StyleSheet = NoStyle | CSS {styleURL :: StyleURL} | XSL {styleURL :: StyleURL}
22:15:08<Saizan>so toMessageM . XML (XSL "/s/style.xsl")
22:16:20<joelr1>Saizan: awesome, thanks
22:16:38<joelr1>Saizan: do you use happs?
22:16:43<Saizan>yes
22:16:53<joelr1>Saizan: for what, may i ask?
22:17:16<Saizan>an italian bash.org :)
22:17:42<joelr1>can i see the site? do you use css or xsl?
22:17:47<Saizan>xsl
22:17:54<Saizan>zzodici.yi.org
22:18:10<joelr1>Saizan: looking
22:19:01<Saizan>i should polish the .xsl actually, but i'm lazy
22:21:33<joelr1>Saizan: interesting
22:22:45<joelr1>Saizan: have you found any problems with the xsl? found it tough to work with?
22:25:25<Saizan>most of the time you can just write your xhtml and insert the placeholder for the data
22:26:36<Saizan>it's a bit tricky when you have to do some "real" calculation
22:27:01<Saizan>like in browse where the numbers for the pages are generated by the xsl
22:28:13<joelr1>Saizan: i see
22:28:21<joelr1>Saizan: so you don't generate any html within your app, right?
22:28:55<Saizan>no
22:29:13<joelr1>and how are you finding the stability of happs?
22:29:22<joelr1>has your site been under a heavy load?
22:29:34<Saizan>not really :)
22:29:47<Saizan>it's on my machine :)
22:29:52<joelr1>ok
22:30:15<joelr1>do you, by chance, have the source code somewhere? i'd love to read through it
22:30:46<Saizan>mmh
22:33:44<joelr1>guess not :-)
22:33:46<joelr1>ok
22:34:16<joelr1>Saizan: the dilemma i have is that happs is easy to start with whereas hope has rss, blog with comments, a CMS essentially
22:37:23<Saizan>for rss i use bringert module
22:37:53<Saizan>however darcs get http://zzodici.yi.org/s/repo
22:38:37<Saizan>it's quite contaminated by my recent attempt to derive an xml representation for the datatypes..
22:38:54<joelr1>Saizan: ndm's Data.Derive may help there
22:39:06<Saizan>yeah, using it :)
22:39:20<joelr1>Saizan: so you pull the rss module into happs then?
22:40:42<joelr1>Saizan: something that i meant to ask... suppose i want to return some source code in my xml. who does the html encoding? i.e. the quoting of &, <, > , etc
22:40:43<Saizan>i've a ToMessage instance for the RSS type
22:41:33<Saizan>if you use a ToElement instance it's HaXml that does it for you
22:41:45<joelr1>aha
22:41:47<joelr1>interesting
22:42:04<joelr1>Saizan: thanks for the repo, btw
22:42:07<joelr1>you live, you learn
22:42:38<Saizan>:)
22:42:53<joelr1>Saizan: are you using server-side xslt or are you leaving it to happs to figure out?
22:43:02<joelr1>i see ,hOut () () $ serverXSLT stylePath in your code
22:43:11<Saizan>leaving to happs
22:43:35<joelr1>interesting, you are using HXT as well
22:43:51<Saizan>yeah, for backup
22:44:02<Saizan>i like the arrow interface
22:44:06<joelr1>mmm
22:44:25<joelr1>why did you go with happs, btw? why not hope, for example?
22:46:16<Saizan>well, i didn't know of the existence of hope :D
22:46:35<Saizan>however i don't like CGI a lot
22:48:20<joelr1>Saizan: it uses fcgi
22:48:30<joelr1>wow
22:48:34<joelr1>i managed to bring hope up!
22:48:36<joelr1>he
22:48:57<Saizan>is fcgi very different?
22:50:05<joelr1>it's better because it stays up, i think
