18:52:22<cbarski>Hi Everyone- Sorry to be a bother, but I have a quick EC2/S3 integration question so I can plan ahead...
18:52:32<cbarski>I can imagine what "S3 integration" means (data is persisted to S3)
18:52:39<cbarski>...but I'm not sure what EC2 integration means, since Happs can already run in this kind of environment, since it's just a linux vm... does it mean you're just publishing a Happs AMI image? or, are you doing something fancier, like allowing Happs apps to somehow automagically be pushed to an EC2 server? Just curious what "EC2 integration" will be like...
18:52:58<cbarski>thanks
18:56:32<kaol>alexj might be the most likely to have an answer to that, but he's not online currently
18:56:44<cbarski>thx
19:09:16<shapr>cbarski: It means something very cool :-)
19:09:32<shapr>ACTION is running HAppS on EC2 right now...
19:10:55<shapr>The goal is to be able to dynamically scale a HAppS website across as many EC2 instances as your application requires.
19:11:56<shapr>That code is not yet finished though.
19:22:37<cbarski>i know you guys are still working on it - i guess the specific question is, should I start to tune an AMI vm image for my happs server that I plan to deploy in 5 months, or are you folks gonna have a special AMI image as part of the integration anyway, shapr?
19:23:29<cbarski>...no point in tuning my own image if I can expect to replace it later on...
19:24:07<cbarski>(not that I probably couldn't benefit from the experience anyway :-)
19:26:49<shapr>I'm building an image based on what's debian/unstable right now, but if you have any tips on AMI tuning, I'd like to hear 'em :-)
19:29:59<kaol>if I can help with the Debian part of things, just let me know...
19:30:23<cbarski>I'm afraid I'm a newbie when it comes to that stuff as well... but it really helps to know that I should stick to debian for a smooth transition later on- If I have any EC2/Happs/Debian experiences to share in the future I'll be sure to pass it on! Thanks for the info.
19:31:22<cbarski>thanks kaol- Hopefully I can manage the Debian part without having to bug anyone :-)
