01:45:53<dino->In HAppS.MACID class Serialize, function decodeStringM :: MonadIO m => String -> m (a, String) What is that String in (a, String) ? Failure message?
06:31:39<Saizan>dino-: it's the rest of the string after you've parsed a, i suppose
15:07:14<tuukkah>should we use some library to generate email messages?
16:04:05<tuukkah>the tutorial example isn't quite according to rfc2822 since From and Date headers are obligatory and there needs to be an empty line before message body
16:14:07<kaol>couldn't XSLT be used to generate email messages too?
16:19:22<tuukkah>i suppose there should be a non-XML API too
17:36:35<tuukkah>updated a bit: http://haskell.org/haskellwiki/HAppS_tutorial#Send_email
18:15:13<tuukkah>shapr, can you check the part in parentheses (assuming it was written by you)? http://haskell.org/haskellwiki/HAppS_tutorial#Send_email
18:16:15<shapr>Er, what's up with -- your name ?
18:16:20<shapr>relay is the smtp server.
18:17:13<shapr>Dunno about lots of interesting debug output.
18:17:55<tuukkah>it's not
18:18:40<tuukkah>relay is what's sent in the HELO line as the "domain" of the sending server
18:18:46<shapr>ACTION blinks
18:18:57<shapr>that's ... confusing
18:19:04<tuukkah>totally :-)
18:19:10<shapr>I'd call that a bug.
18:26:26<tuukkah>i tried to ask on #haskell and i got the response that the value isn't typically used for anything by smtp servers
18:26:42<tuukkah>makes it more difficult to name it ;-)
18:31:44<shapr>heh
18:31:58<tuukkah>there
18:32:16<tuukkah>there's the default of "host" somewhere in the code, but i think "localhost" would be a more typical value
18:32:36<shapr>yeah, that's pretty strange.
18:32:52<shapr>I think the email sending code is about to be completely rewritten, so it shouldn't be a problem..
18:33:02<tuukkah>getHostname would be correct, probably
18:42:22<Saizan>shapr, when are the new patches scheduled?
18:58:42<Igloo>I'd call it helo
19:27:18<kaol>shapr: do you know if alexj is around? I'd need to hear from him to resolve some licensing issues with generic-xml and syb-with-class
19:46:38<tuukkah>Igloo, that'd be very good if there is another interface for normal use, where you don't need to understand rfc2821
20:13:54<shapr>kaol: I'll talk to him.
20:15:38<shapr>Saizan: Real Soon Now :-)
20:20:24<kaol>I sent him an email about it. A simple "Yes." reply would be enough, so that I could stick that in the README.Debian files
20:26:36<shapr>Actually, I just got permission to explicitly add LICENSE files for BSD3
20:36:43<kaol>that's even better
20:37:28<kaol>we're Debian. We like our licenses to be explicit.
20:47:41<tuukkah>Igloo seems to have implemented a mime library, i suppose i should use that to construct the email messages
20:55:39<Igloo>My library is mainly useful for parsing, not constructing, I think
20:57:14<tuukkah>i was about to ask how to use it for constructing :-)
20:58:01<tuukkah>the Show instances don't produce the correct syntax?
21:05:34<tuukkah>for now, i could just hardcode the correct strings
21:05:46<tuukkah>like darcs seems to be doing :-)
