19:06:11<perspectivet>Saizan: you around?
19:07:28<Saizan>yes
19:08:13<perspectivet>I'm going to do the ppc to ppc (mac) and a ppc to intel test today.
19:08:39<perspectivet>Where are you planning on going with hspread now that things appear to be mostly working.
19:12:06<Saizan>well, happs is going to use it for multimaster and sharding, but i haven't worked on that part so i don't know what it actually needs
19:14:42<perspectivet>are you going to move over to that or just hand it off to the people who have worked on the problem already
19:14:57<Saizan>maybe we could implement erlang message passing with it :)
19:15:19<perspectivet>yeah, alexj mentioned an interest in that
19:15:50<Saizan>a bit heavyweight if you also need to start the server though
19:15:56<perspectivet>he said something to the effect that he wanted to take on erlang in the distributed space :)
19:16:02<perspectivet>Saizan: yeah.
19:17:04<Saizan>shall we port the server too?:)
19:17:18<perspectivet>I was about to say
19:17:23<perspectivet>Saizan: I benchmarked hspflooder against spflooder on a local machine connection, and performance was between 1.2x and 3x the speed of the C spflooder
19:17:43<Saizan>doesn't seem bad
19:17:51<perspectivet>no, I was pretty impressed
19:18:06<perspectivet>It'll probably be closer over a net connection too
19:18:27<Saizan>yeah, there the IO time will surely dominate
19:19:29<Saizan>if you try on ppc you probably need to set ARCH_TYPE to 0 in Constants
19:20:17<perspectivet>Right. I'll add the ARCH_TYPE cpp
19:20:55<perspectivet>oh, yeah, I just remembered that performance above was with no optimization flags
19:21:08<Saizan>uoh
19:21:29<perspectivet>for ghc, that is. The C spflooder had whatever flags were in the VC project
19:21:56<Saizan>so we might be on 1x
19:22:03<perspectivet>yeah
19:22:28<Saizan>the binary sure is impressive
19:22:44<perspectivet>which binary?
19:22:52<Saizan>err, binayr package
19:22:59<perspectivet>oh, yeah
20:17:05<perspectivet>nuncanada, are you actually a nun from canada?
20:17:20<nuncanada>no :) uhahaha
20:17:28<nuncanada>in portugueses i am "never anything"
20:19:04<perspectivet>nice, that makes a lot more sense than a canuck nun hanging out in a esoteric web framework channel
