00:35:55<Gebb>I try to install and compile HAppS on Windows, but can't. Are there any instructions? I tried the one on happs.org, but no luck. ghc says it's missing some modules when I try to compile MyProject/src/Main.hs.
00:41:40<Gebb>I suppose it's not enough to just execute "darcs get http://happs.org/happs.org MyProject" to get all the needed sources, some other projects must be got from their darcs repos.
01:49:13<Lycurgus>the use if Windows itself if perhaps misguided.
01:49:17<Lycurgus>*of
01:49:27<Lycurgus>*is
01:55:19<Gebb>well, maybe. But I still want to build HAppS on it.
01:55:19<Gebb>The trial and error method led to a point where I have the following error and cannot google any solution.
01:55:19<Gebb>HAppS/Data/Xml/HaXml.hs:36:13:
01:55:19<Gebb> `H.Content' is not applied to enough type arguments
01:55:19<Gebb> Expected kind `??', but `H.Content' has kind `* -> *'
01:55:19<Gebb> In the type `H.Content -> Element'
01:55:21<Gebb> In the type signature for `fromHaXml':
01:55:23<Gebb> fromHaXml :: H.Content -> Element
01:57:03<Gebb>I guess someone asked about this error before, beacause google finds exatly the same error message on hpaste.org.
01:58:46<Gebb>Any ideas on how I can work around it?
02:00:01<Igloo>What version of HaXml do you have?
02:00:53<Gebb>Igloo: I tried 1.19.1 and the latest darcs version.
02:01:30<Igloo>You want one from the 1.13 branch I think
02:01:54<Gebb>Igloo: Thanks, i'll try it.
02:01:55<Igloo>Yes, "Current version: HaXml-1.13.3" on http://www.cs.york.ac.uk/fp/HaXml/#download
02:12:50<Gebb>OMG, it has been successfully built!
02:20:48<Saizan>Gebb: you aren't using searchpath, right?
02:21:24<Gebb>Saizan: umm, I guess I'm not.
02:22:12<Gebb>I don't even know what it is.
02:25:06<Gebb>I googled for parts of the complains that GHC showed me when I tried to compile happs, then downloaded the missing packages.
02:25:41<Saizan>it's a small program that manages dependencies downloading the needed code from the web with curl, however it's fine to install the packages with cabal
02:26:18<Saizan>(i do that myself(
02:27:05<Gebb>Saizan: Looks like that program could have saved me a lot of time.
02:27:48<Saizan>happs.org raccomends it, iirc
02:28:30<Saizan>however you can browse the file it uses to find the code to find the repos if you continue on the "manual" route http://searchpath.org/default.map
02:30:17<Gebb>Saizan: Yes, the site mentions it in the list of requirements. But I managed to ignore it somehow.
02:31:24<Saizan>i'm not sure if curl is easy to install on windows
02:31:47<Gebb>Saizan: does not darcs use it?
02:33:26<Gebb>Oh, I guess not.
02:43:16<Gebb>My brand new Main.exe works just fine. Thanks to all who found time for me.
02:48:32<Saizan>nice :)
04:45:50<Lycurgus>who is the "We" of HAppS?
04:47:18<Lycurgus>and if one were to try to use sp 0.92 as directed where would one get it?
04:47:32<Lycurgus>(since the link to it is broken)
05:07:04<bench1>does happs support wsdl/webservices?
05:11:09<bench1>??
15:03:08<kaol>alexj: could you please add a COPYING file in the HAppS-DNS repository?
16:48:36<alexj>kaol: just send me a patch.
16:52:55<alexj>lycurgus: just fixed the link.
