12:17:58<Awson>Hi!
12:18:09<Awson>I've just faced a dilemma. My state (amongst others) contains 2 objects of the same (structural) type.
12:18:16<Awson>AFAIU, there are at least 2 ways to deal with this: to puth them both into state component explicitly, or give them *different* (nominal) types and put into state dependency (type)list.
12:18:32<Awson>Is this correct?
12:19:49<Saizan>it seems so
12:19:57<Saizan>you can use newtype for the latter
12:27:32<Awson>The 2nd approach looks appealing but entails all that serialization machinery doubling. Right?
12:36:37<Awson>Lemmih, what does '(:' mean - smile or sad or something else ?
12:37:20<Saizan>i think you can use a phatom type to distinguish the two, avoiding duplication
12:39:40<Awson>Nice idea, I'll investigate
13:12:33<Lemmih>(: is a smiley.
17:55:47<davidL>Was HAppS-Util replaced by HAppS-Plugins?
18:00:45<Lemmih>nO.
18:03:54<davidL>why isn't HAppS-Util listed on happs.org?
18:05:26<Lemmih>happs.org is very flawed.
18:21:02<davidL>I see
19:06:37<davidL>can deriveSerialize be used to make Seq (Data.Sequence) an instance of Serialize?
19:06:52<Lemmih>I don't think so.
19:07:41<Lemmih>It should be fairly easy to write an instance manually with fromList/toList.
19:08:22<davidL>I'll do that, thanks
19:09:19<davidL>would it be worth sending a darcs patch for it?
19:09:33<Lemmih>Yeah.
19:10:00<davidL>very well
23:26:44<davidL>why do I need to use proxyQuery when finding the length/size of something in state?
