07:02:52<aj_>how do I get happs sources?
07:18:57<Saizan_>for the released version you can get them from hackage
07:19:25<Saizan_>instead the darcs repositories are listed on happs.org
07:47:29<aj_>I tried darcs get http://happs.org/repos/happs.org MyProject
07:48:05<aj_>but doing ghc -isrc src/Main.hs --make gives error Could not find module `HAppS.Server'
07:48:40<Saizan_>install HAppS-Server via cabal first
07:49:36<aj_>I can't get HaXML to install using cabal which is a dependency for happs-server
07:51:23<Saizan_>really? which error are you getting and which package of HaXml are you using?
07:53:00<aj_>Setup.hs: HaXml.cabal:16: 'Executable' stanza starting with field 'flag splitbase
07:53:02<aj_>default'
07:53:21<aj_>HaXml-1.19.4\
07:54:44<Saizan_>happs depend on 1.13.3 of haxml, so you should install this: http://hackage.haskell.org/packages/archive/HaXml/1.13.3/HaXml-1.13.3.tar.gz
07:56:07<Saizan_>if you first install the cabal-install package then you can just run 'cabal install HAppS-Server' and all the dependencies will be downloaded and installed by it
07:57:28<aj_>ok thanks I did not know about cabal install
07:57:45<aj_>this dependency thing was getting slightly frustrating
07:57:47<aj_>:)
07:58:21<Saizan_>cabal-install has 2 or 3 dependencies itself, but they are all on hackage and easy to install
07:59:50<aj_>trying to install cabal-install gives me this error now - Setup.hs: cabal-install.cabal:31: Invalid syntax (no colon after field name)
07:59:52<aj_>:(
08:00:10<aj_>cabal install 0.5.1
08:00:33<aj_>May have something to do with changed syntax for cabal files?
08:02:01<Saizan_>yes, you need to update your Cabal anyway
08:02:18<Saizan_>whcih ghc are you using?
08:03:18<aj_>6.6.1
08:04:03<Saizan_>i don't think HAppS can work with that
08:04:30<aj_>ohh
08:04:36<aj_>I just saw the dependency
08:04:39<aj_>6.8.2
08:04:53<aj_>well I guess I need to update
08:05:39<Saizan_>the Built On field? that's not really a dependency, just a test that hackage does
08:06:33<aj_>no the requirements listed on happs.org
08:06:42<aj_>above the getting started section
08:06:53<Saizan_>ah, ok, so i remembered correctly :)
08:07:27<aj_>yeah wonder why ubuntu ships with such an old ghc
08:08:17<aj_>anyways thanks for the help
11:10:23<Saul_>Hey guys
11:10:36<Saul_>I've been looking around at http://groups.google.com/group/HAppS/topics
11:10:52<Saul_>Can you suggest a good tutorial for learning happs?
11:11:28<Saul_>I already did this one: http://groups.google.com/group/HAppS/browse_thread/thread/5ae24e93db79c4fd#, it's good, but it's not done yet
16:23:44<mightybyte>Saul_: Well, I wrote some blog posts that made up something of a HAppS tutorial.
16:24:12<mightybyte>Saul_: You can find them at http://softwaresimply.blogspot.com
16:25:31<mightybyte>There's also this: http://haskell.org/haskellwiki/HAppS_tutorial2
20:15:13<Saul_>chr1s: Are you Chris Eidhof by any chance?
23:16:08<eelco>Saul_: yes, he is
23:17:39<eelco>which you also can learn with /whois of course ;)
23:35:37<Saul_>I see
23:35:55<Saul_>I'm a bit of a irc noob (even though I've been using it for years)
