11:45:16<rs7>Happs newbie here, is it being actively developed (website seems not updated for months).
11:46:35<rs7>hi, anyone around?
11:46:43<Lemmih>Yes.
11:47:10<Lemmih>Development has stalled lately. Hopefully it will pick up again.
11:47:35<rs7>thanks for the update
11:48:59<rs7>how long you think before say a reasonable weblog app is working on happs?
11:50:22<Lemmih>I'm not sure what a reasonable weblog entails.
11:53:59<rs7>I was vague. I meant support for user accounts, posting and displaying messages.
11:56:29<Lemmih>I'm not sure. Depends on the programmer, I think.
12:02:17<rs7>Happs seems a great idea, but not mature yet. Thanks for your help.
12:10:49<MarcWeber>Why do those folks vanish that fast? Someone has written a wiki recently (-> haskellcafe).. He could have compared that work with his goal to get an effort estimation
12:15:56<Lemmih>Is git easy to install?
12:16:20<Lemmih>I'm thinking about replacing the happs website with gitit.
12:16:52<Lemmih>The web-server doesn't seem to be running anything debian like.
12:19:55<Saizan>does HAppS build on 6.10?
12:20:02<Lemmih>Nope.
12:21:42<Lemmih>Perhaps it's time for a new release.
12:23:45<Saizan>yeah, the one on hackage doesn't build on windows either
12:23:53<Lemmih>Oh, how so?
12:24:05<Saizan>it lists a dependency on unix
12:24:09<Lemmih>Ah.
13:10:17<Lemmih>Anyone familiar with Cabal? How can I say (base < 4 || (base >= 4 && syb)) ?
13:10:42<Saizan>you need to add a flag
13:10:46<dcoutts>flag base4
13:10:48<dcoutts>...
13:10:54<dcoutts>if flag(base4)
13:11:02<dcoutts> build-depends: base >= 4
13:11:03<dcoutts>else
13:11:14<dcoutts> build-depends: base < 4
13:11:29<dcoutts>and then add, syb and whatever into the base4 branch
13:11:34<dcoutts>eg
13:11:39<dcoutts> build-depends: base >= 4, syb
13:12:04<Saizan>should one add && < 5 ?
13:12:08<dcoutts>yes
13:12:38<dcoutts>ACTION wants this syntactic sugar:
13:12:50<dcoutts>build-depends: base < 5
13:12:54<dcoutts>if build-depends(base >= 4)
13:12:58<dcoutts> build-depends: syb
13:13:21<dcoutts>as syntactic sugar for the above thing with a flag
13:39:01<Lemmih>dcoutts: Has hackage stopped building haddock documentation?
13:41:08<dcoutts>Lemmih: not afaik
14:11:07<JuanDaugherty>MarcWeber, you mean someone has written a wiki using happs?
14:15:42<Lemmih>JuanDaugherty: http://hackage.haskell.org/cgi-bin/hackage-scripts/package/gitit-0.1.1
14:20:48<JuanDaugherty>Lemmih, thanks. It would appear that communication with the author would be necessary for the mentioned comparison.
14:21:27<JuanDaugherty>s/comparison/comparison\/estimation/
14:24:28<Lemmih>HAppS-0.9.3 is out. Testing would be appreciated.
14:30:00<MarcWeber>Lemmih: Currently I'm working on shim (to get more editor support for haskell). When that starts to work I'd like to help improve HAppS. Hopefully this is within less than 2 weeks
14:30:34<Lemmih>MarcWeber: shim/emacs or shim/yi?
14:31:33<MarcWeber>Does shim/yi exist?
14:31:55<MarcWeber>Basically it will be a complete rewrite of the existing shim project.
14:32:26<MarcWeber>You'll be able to select the cabal dist dir and target (executable or library) to be used when working on a file.
14:33:00<MarcWeber>It should also use the tmp dir used by cabal so that when you ask shim to syntax check the file you already have half of all .o files or such.. Not sure about that all yet
14:33:23<Lemmih>There's a bunch of shim files in the yi code. I haven't been able to activate any of it, though.
14:37:04<Lemmih>MarcWeber: does 'cabal install HAppS-Server-0.9.3' work for you?
14:37:32<MarcWeber>I'm using nixos.. But let me update the dracs repos and I can tell you in half an hour
14:53:54<Saizan>Lemmih: it compiled fine here with 6.10.1
14:55:24<Lemmih>Excellent.
